MICK SAYLOM was born in May 28 TH 1977 in Vientiane the capital of Laos. Mick
Saylom had dreamed of becoming a painter since he was a child. He decided to
study painting at the National Institute of Fine Arts, where he completed his
Master’s degree in Fine Arts.
He worked as an art teacher and created artworks for 32 years. He also served as
the Deputy Director of the National Institute of Fine Arts for two years. However,
because he wanted to follow the dream he had since childhood, he decided to
resign from government service and become an independent artist.
Mick Saylom’s artworks are diverse in style and emotion. His ideas never remain
in the same place; he continuously explores new techniques and keeps
developing his artistic practice. Most of his works reflect themes such as lifestyle,
beliefs, and social perspectives. He is an artist whose work is recognized by art
collectors both domestically and internationally.
On the eve of Lao revolution, Hongsa was born in 1975 in Ban Phonethan Neua, Xaysettha District in Vientiane. A locally trained and regionally influenced artist, Hongsa’s classic watercolors, oil and charcoal drawings are heavily influenced by Thai contemporary artist, Ajarn Savai. “I capture Lao women, and their relationship with children. In Laos, nothing is more beautiful than this”, he shared.
Hongsa’s work is well known within the Lao contemporary art community for capturing playful yet potent images of Akha women from Luang-Namtha in the northern most regions of Lao PDR. Each of Hongsa’s paintings tells the life of individual women from ethnic minorities to urban Vientiane mothers, promoting a deeper understanding of gender equality.
Nivong Sengsakoun graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts in 2008 and started to work with Department of Fine Arts,. Nivong continued his studied and got his Master in 2020 from the National Institute of Fine Arts. After graduation, he moved to woked at the Heritage Department as Vice division of Fine Arts Management. In late 2024, he decided to leave his government position and fully dedicate himself to art. Currently, he works as a freelancer and is focusing more on his art. Nivong also work as a freelance illustrator of children's books for various organizations, especially ROOM to READ Laos.
Souliya is well known to audiences in Laos for her educational and entertaining stop-motion animated series produced at Clay House Studios. He also uses his signature protagonist Buffalo and the Clay Man to hone his contemporary art. Souliya's Buffalo is a metaphor for Lao citizens. and his art offers a careful reflection on the contemporary reality of Laos. social order exchange of information and knowledge of Laos abroad. Souliya's art is known internationally. And he attended workshops, residences and exhibitions. in different countries including Japan, Korea, Singapore and Germany. Souliya's work has been featured in the prestigious Asia Pacific Triennial (Brisbane, Australia), Cheongju biennale, Cheongju city, Korea, Bangkok Art Biennale 2020, Bangkok Thailand. In addition to producing stopmotion animation and contemporary art, Souliya also Teaching photography and new media at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Vientiane which he has a visual communication design department

* 2003 obtained the first award and certificate from
the annual painting contest 2003 which took place at Fine Art College
in Luang Prabang province supported by French.
* 2004 obtained both the first award and paise award with two certificates from the
annual painting contest 2004 which took place at Fine Art College in Luang
Prabang province.
* 2005 participated the annual painting contest 2005 supported by Japanese which
took place at Fine Art College in Luang Prabang province, won the second
award. After that the painting was sent to Japan for contest and won praise
award.
* 2006 obtained paise award by participation the painting contest with all Lao artist
around the country on the subject of Lao - Vietnamese relationship, And after
the contest this painting was taken to International Institute of Fine Art for
exhibition.
